1740		The Gomorrah Event. Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks breaks up as it hits Earth’s outer atmosphere. Ten thousand Tunguskas devastate Europe and the Middle East while other fragments impact across the globe. Canku Ota has his Great Vision. The Great Winter begins. Magic returns.
1744		The Great Winter finally ends just as the Great Comet Of 1744 is seen in the sky. The comet developed a ‘fan’ of six tails after reaching its perihelion and was widely seen as an omen or sign.
1748		The Spanish colonies of the Americas become the nation of New Spain, the viceroy of Grenada, Sebastián de Eslava, becomes Emperor Sebastian I.
1750		Sebastian I proclaims the Vatican Secundum in Mexico City, appoints the Archbishop of Mexico as Pope Benedict XIV.
1753		Joseph-François Dupleix, governor of French India, proclaims a New French Empire with himself as Emperor Joseph the First from his capital at Pondicherry.
1754		The Albany Parliament establishes the nation of New Britain from the former British colonies of North America and the Caribbean. Lord Thomas Fairfax becomes King Henry IXth.
1755		Benjamin Franklin becomes Grand Wizard and Magister Of The Royal College.
1757		Benedict XV is appointed Pontiff of the Restored Catholic Church in Mexico City.
1761		Canku Ota dies – his funeral is a massive gathering that lasts several months, attended by members of every tribe (even the warring holdouts) and British nobles alike. Grand Wizard Franklin gives a memorable speech.
1763		Pontiac’s Rebellion and the Epic Lacrosse Massacre of Fort Michilimackinac.
1769		Caribbean War – New Spain attempts to take several of the island Shires and British Honduras from New Britain but the British fleet and army prove equal to the task of defense. The Spanish, in turn repulse British attempts to land and capture towns on the Gulf Coast of Mexico.
1760		Grand Wizard Franklin invents the Franklin Engine for converting magical potential into useable power. The Great Fire Of Boston burns 250 buildings and is stopped by two philosopher-mages.
1764		Caribbean War finally ends.
1765		The first Skyship, the British Navy’s brig “H.M.S. Skylark” takes off at the Wallabout Yard in New York.
1768		The first skyship disaster occurs when the sky-brig “Miss Molly”out of Philadelphia explodes 1,000 feet over the Appalachians during a lightning storm. Almost a mile of mountainside is scorched by the explosion, which is heard as far away as Raleigh and Norfolk. The area under the explosion becomes an unstable zone of higher mana and uncanny events.
1769		Haitian War – Haitian slaves, outnumbering their white masters ten to one, rise up in revolt against New France with the aid of the New British and claim freedom as a new British Shire. Peace is made in 1771.
1773		War of The Orleans – New Spain invades the New Orleans province in an attempt to wrest it from New France. New Britain allies with the French to preserve the buffer zone between the two continental powers. The war spills into the Caribbean and British Honduras.
1776		Invasion of the Cherokee Nation by 6,000 militiamen from Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The troops destroy thirty-six Cherokee towns before being surrounded and returned to their lands by British Army troops and Haudenosaunee warriors landed in their path by Royal Navy skyships.
1778		War Of The Orleans. The British and French decisively push the Spanish out of the New Orleans area. Peace is declared but the area remains a bone of contention which the Spanish continually probe.
